It may not seem like a lot of money to many married couples, but one NFL player says he and his wife survive on a budget that amounts to little more than two teachers’ salaries.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Ryan Broyles said he began closely studying personal finance during an NFL rookie symposium. The professional football player has a $3.6 million contract, but through careful planning and budgeting, his family lives on just $60,000 per year, according to ESPN’s Michael Rothstein.
“I studied as much as I could,” Broyles told Rothstein. “Talked to people wealthier than me, smarter than me. So that definitely helps.”
Broyles says the couple both drive Mazdas and still own the 2005 Chevy SUV he took to college.
