Beware of flood damaged cars

As cleanup continues in Texas following deadly flooding, other parts of the country are being warned about salvaged cars that may be coming out of the state.  According to Copart, a company that works on behalf of insurers to handle vehicles damaged in catastrophes, as many as 10,000 insured vehicles were impacted by the flooding in Texas.

When a vehicle is damaged in a flood its title is supposed to be marked as salvaged but that doesn’t always happen.  Often times the vehicles get cleaned up and shipped to other parts of the country for resale.  Click here to read more from the National Insurance Crime Bureau about flood vehicles.  Here are some resources that will keep you from falling victim to this scam.
