FORT WORTH, Texas – A single mother’s determination to ensure her son didn’t feel left out during a father-son breakfast at his school has caught the attention of the Internet.
Yevette Vasquez asked her son, Elijah, why so many cars were parked at Sue Crouch Intermediate School in Fort Worth, Texas, as she was dropping him off Thursday, KDFW reported. He told her people were visiting for a “Donuts with Dad” school breakfast.
Determined to make sure her son didn’t feel left out, Vasquez headed back to the family’s house with her son in tow and opened up her wardrobe.
“I wasn’t about to let him miss out,” she wrote in a Facebook post that has since gone viral. “I know seeing other dads with (their) kids isn’t easy for mine, but it’s life. At least I can do whatever it takes to put a smile on that face.”
Vasquez threw on baggy pants, a plaid shirt and a baseball cap. She completed the look with a fake mustache.
She told KDFW she was nervous about showing up at the school in her chosen outfit but that she’s gotten overwhelming positive responses on social media.
