Northgate Mall restaurant closed by health department

A Northgate Mall sushi and seafood bar was closed by the county health department Tuesday because of food safety violations.

Blue Fin & Seafood, at 401 N.E. Northgate Way, #463, was closed at 4:30 pm May 3. According to health department staff, the restaurant had the following violations:

  • Foods from unapproved source
  • Potentially hazardous foods at unsafe temperatures
  • Improper cooling of potentially hazardous food
  • Inadequate facilities to control temperature of potentially hazardous food, cold holding
  • Foods not protected from cross contamination
  • Poor personal hygiene practices – hand washing, bare-hand contact with ready-to-eat food
  • Hand washing facilities unavailable

The establishment will be reopened once the inspector confirms that these issues have been resolved, health department staff said.

Restaurant was expected to be open from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Also closed was the Fortune Garden Restaurant at 424 Maynard Ave S in Seattle. That restaurant closed May 2.

Health department staff said they found the following safety violations:

  • Inadequate facilities to control temperature of potentially hazardous food, cold holding
  • Poor personal hygiene practices – hand washing

The establishment was reopened on May 3, 2016 at 3:30 pm after the inspector confirmed that these issues had been resolved.
