There are so many great deals in the cell phone market right now. One of the most recent is Sprint’s offer of one year of free cell phone service when you switch from Verizon or the other major carriers.
But before you can take advantage of any deal, you must be sure your phone will work on another wireless provider’s network. You don’t want to find out after the fact that you need to get a new phone!
Do this before you switch your cell phone provider
There are two main platforms for cell phones: GSM and CDMA.
GSM is basically the worldwide standard. That’s the platform AT&T and T-Mobile use.
But in the U.S., Verizon and Sprint both use CDMA, not GSM.
